Currently the biggest news in the whole wide world is that a talented and yet horrendously bland rapper did something to upset a teenage girl who happens to be the world’s worst lyricist on a TV show.
No, seriously. If you go to CNN right now, this story takes up 2 of their top 10 stories worldwide. Go to twitter, where Kanye has been a trending topic for days. It’s on the BBC news website, and, well, everywhere.
Ok, I admit that it’s pretty funny that Kanye went up during someone else’s acceptance speech and gave a shout out not to himself, but to Beyonce, who looked so deeply embarrassed that the floor might just swallow her up out of pity. Part of the joy of awards shows is that inevitably someone gets drunk and makes an idiot of themselves. Usually it’s a Gallagher though.
One new development has come today that really made me smile, and will presumably have the effect of prolonging Kanye’s misery for a few more days. It turns out that President Obama was caught on an open mic calling Kanye a ‘Jackass.’ Can you imagine the shame?
There’s Kanye, presumably still nursing a hangover the size of Peru, getting shit from everyone over his antics, and then he finds out that the first Black President, a man he idolises, has called him a Jackass. That’s got to smart.
